The city’s popular summer camp program will begin Monday, June 7, and continue through Friday, Aug. 6, with safety protocols in place due to the pandemic. The nine-week program is for children ages 5 to 16 years old and will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed Monday, July 5). Breakfast and lunch, sports, crafts and games are provided at the summer camps. Due to the pandemic, camp participation will be reduced to 50 percent occupancy, and there are no field trips planned for participants.
There are four sites in Daytona Beach for the summer camps:
- Midtown Community Center, 925 George W. Engram Blvd.
- Schnebly Recreation Center, 1101 N. Atlantic Ave.
- Sunnyland Park, 825 Washington St.
- YSG Community Center, 1000 Vine St.
Registration for the summer camps is open to current after-school participants through Friday, April 30, at the city’s Leisure Services office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registration for the general public will begin Monday, May 3. Registration for a summer camp spot is on a first-come, first-served basis. The summer camp registration fee has been waived for this year. The cost for the nine-week program is $270 per participant. A payment plan of $30 per week is available. County plans summer camps
Volusia County’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Division will host summer camps for children ages 5-13 in the Daytona Beach area from Monday, June 14 through Friday, July 30. The camps will be offered from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the following locations:
- David C. Hinson Sr. Middle School, 1860 N. Clyde Morris Blvd.
- Turie T. Small Elementary School, 800 South St.
- RJ Longstreet Elementary School, 2745 S. Peninsula Drive

County summer camp scholarships available
Summer camp scholarships are available to income-eligible children through Volusia County’s Community Assistance Division. Families with children entering grades 1-6 and ages 5-12 are eligible. Five year olds must have completed kindergarten prior to camp to be eligible. Persons up to age 17 attending approved special needs camps are eligible. Scholarship awards are based on income eligibility and will be awarded according to funding availability.
