Residents can help keep the city bright

Streetlights on Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd.

Street lighting improves the quality of life in neighborhoods by making residents, motorists and pedestrians feel safer.

There are more than 7,000 street lights in the city, with FPL maintaining most of them. A team of four city employees from the traffic division visually inspect lighting systems twice a month from the hours of 4 to 7 a.m., but residents can also report lighting concerns.

To report a street light that’s not working, flickering or if the LED is purple in color, report it by calling (386) 671-8659. Please note its location (nearby cross streets, number on the pole, etc.).
