Activities in the area
Beaches
If you are going to the beach this weekend, plan to be there early to avoid late morning high tides. Vehicle ramps will open no earlier than 8 a.m., and all vehicles must exit the beach before 7 p.m.

To get real-time beach information, make sure to download the Volusia County Beach app, which can provide ramp closures, locations of staffed lifeguard towers, tides and more. You also can access a real-time map that shows locations for off-beach parking, restrooms, lifeguard towers and beach ramps. Beachgoers should make sure to swim in front of a staffed lifeguard tower and be on the lookout for marked sea turtle nests. For more details, follow Volusia Beaches on Twitter.

Cypress Aquatic Center
Cypress Aquatic Center, located at 981 George W. Engram Blvd., will be open noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Monday. The pool is closed Sunday. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 per person 17 years old and younger. For more information, visit www.codb.us/pools. Campbell Aquatic Center at 400 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. has been temporarily closed while construction is underway for a new entry pavilion and shaded seating areas. The pool will reopen when the improvements are complete, which is scheduled for next month. Residents with questions can call (386) 671-8393.

Fireworks
Fireworks will be at the Daytona Beach Oceanfront Bandshell Saturday night after the concert sponsored by the Boardwalk Merchants and Friends of the Bandshell. The fireworks are scheduled for about 9:45 p.m. The Saturday night concert is sold out. The series brings the best tribute bands to the area every Saturday night through Sept. 25. For more information, including the list of scheduled performances, visit www.DaytonaBandshell.com.
