[ARCHIVED] Listening sessions to hear priorities for how federal Coronavirus funds should be spent

WEB_CLFRL_Workshop_July 7 2021

The public is invited to community listening sessions to learn about the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds the city is receiving and provide feedback on how the monies should be used. The city’s allocation from the federal government is $15 million. The Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds provide substantial flexibility to meet local needs—including support for households, small businesses, impacted industries, essential workers and the communities hardest hit by the crisis. The funds can also be used to make necessary investments in water, sewer and broadband infrastructure. Citizen feedback is an important part of the process in determining how the funds will be used. The listening sessions begin at 6 p.m. on the following days/locations:

  • Tuesday, July 13
    Midtown Cultural and Educational Center
    925 George W. Engram Blvd.

  • Wednesday, July 14
    Schnebly Recreation Center
    1101 N. Atlantic Ave.

  • Thursday, July 15
    Daytona Beach Police Department Headquarters*
    129 Valor Blvd.

*The July 15 meeting at the Police Department Headquarters will include a virtual option for people who are unable to attend.

The city will receive $15 million in two equal payments. The first payment was issued June, while the second will be released in the first quarter of 2022.

Background
City commissioners met Wednesday, June 30, to discuss how the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds should be used. The city will receive $15 million in two equal payments. The first payment was issued in June 2021, while the second will be released in the first quarter of 2022.

The Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds provide substantial flexibility for each government to meet local needs—including support for households, small businesses, impacted industries, essential workers and the communities hardest hit by the crisis. The funds can also be used to make necessary investments in water, sewer and broadband infrastructure. For a general reference on the ways the funding can be used, visit this webpage.

Staff's presentation for the commissioners' workshop is available.

The video of the workshop is available.
