[ARCHIVED] City hosts three vaccine clinics

WEB_Covid19 Vaccination Program

Florida is experiencing the highest surge of new COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. Those who have not been vaccinated are encouraged to get their vaccine as soon as possible to protect themselves and others. Vaccines are widely available in Daytona Beach.

Not vaccinated yet? There will be three community vaccination clinics where Volusia County recipients, 18 years of age and older, will receive a $50 Walmart gift card* for each vaccine in the two-shot series (for a total of $100). Family Health Source will supply and administer Moderna vaccines. The gift card incentive is part of Mayor Derrick Henry’s initiative to encourage reluctant residents to get vaccinated, and the cost of the gift cards is provided by Jon Hall Chevrolet and Brown & Brown Insurance.

“When COVID vaccines were first introduced, we saw a lot of people eager to protect their health, but now we are seeing people on the fence, and we want to incentivize those people to get vaccinated,” said Mayor Henry.

Dates and times of upcoming city-sponsored vaccination clinics where gift cards will be given:

Tuesday, August 10
9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Dickerson Community Center
308 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Wednesday, August 11

Thursday, August 12

*a $50 gift card will be given for each shot, for up to $100 for the two-shot series.
