With his family’s blessing, we regret to inform you that a Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) officer who contracted COVID-19 has passed away.

Adam Webb lost his battle at 11:29 a.m. today (September 1, 2021) at AdventHealth Palm Coast with his wife by his side. He was 37 years old.

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we bring this news to the Daytona Beach community,” stated DBPD Police Chief Jakari Young. “Please keep Officer Webb’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Adam was a valued member of our police department and he will be missed by everyone here.”

Officer Webb – a sworn member of DBPD for over eight years – is the first DBPD officer to lose his life due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prior to Officer Webb’s passing, a GoFundMe account was established by members of DBPD to assist the Webb family with medical expenses.

Officer Webb was hired at DBPD on November 18, 2012 as a part-time reserve officer. He became a full-time officer on December 14, 2014 and had been with DBPD ever since. Officer Webb had no prior law enforcement experience.

Officer Webb’s last job assignment was as a Field Training Officer with Alpha Platoon.

Funeral arrangements for Officer Webb have not been set at this time. Once they are, we will let all of you know through our website, social media channels and the DBPD smartphone app.

The Webb family will not grant any interviews at this time and neither will anyone associated with DBPD. We appreciate your understanding.

Grief counselors are available to any DBPD personnel who asks for them.
