Daytona Beach's youth basketball league is now open for registration for boys and girls ages 4 to 17. A free skills clinic will be held the first week of November for ages 6 to 17 at the Midtown Cultural and Educational Center at 925 George W. Engram Blvd. The clinic starts at 5:15 p.m. The player draft will be at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 15 through Nov 17 at the Midtown Cultural and Educational Center. Practices will begin Nov. 22, followed by games starting Dec. 4 and will continue through Feb. 12. The registration fee is $40.
Through the league, kids ages 4 to 12 will focus on the main fundamentals of basketball (defense, shooting and passing). Teens will be divided by skill level and trained as competitive athletes. The main goal is to focus on teamwork, self-confidence and having fun. The final day to register is Nov. 23.
