According to statistics released this week by the Daytona Beach Police Department, reported crime during the first six months of 2022 remained even with the same period in 2021. Property crime – auto theft, burglary and larceny – comprised 75% of reported crimes and violent crime – homicide, robbery, aggravated assault and sexual assault – made up 25% of Part 1 offenses. During the first half of the year, calls for service were down almost 4% when compared to 2021. All seven of this year’s homicides have been cleared. There was a slight drop in domestic violence cases, from 715 to 660, and the number of people shot went from 18 to 16.
