Young football fans will have the opportunity to showcase their skills when the city of Daytona Beach hosts a "Punt, Pass & Kick" competition Saturday, Aug. 20 at Daytona Stadium, 3917 LPGA Blvd. in Daytona Beach. The competition starts at 3 p.m. and is free to boys and girls ages 6-15. Age classification is as of Dec. 31 at 11:59 p.m., local time, for the current year. Winners are based on distance and accuracy. Winners will receive awards and qualify for a regional competition, which are held in October, November or December. Daytona Beach's competition is one of only two competitions held in Florida. The other competition location is in Panama City, Florida.
The five age groups are:
- 6-7 year old
- 8-9 year old
- 10-11 year old
- 12-13 year old
- 14-15 year old
The top two overall finishers as well as the top two individual skill finishers from each of the ten age groups at the local competition will qualify to advance to a regional competition, if one is held. The first place finishers for each age group at the regional competition will qualify to advance to the National Championships, which are help in January 2023. If no regional competition is held then all qualifiers from the local competition advance to the National Finals.
