[ARCHIVED] Only You Can Make Daytona Beach Count

WEB_Census_2020 May 8 488 x 450

The 2020 Census will count every person living in Daytona Beach, Volusia County, the United States and U.S. territories.

The census is conducted every 10 years by the U.S. Census Bureau, a nonpartisan government agency. The results determine congressional representation and federal funding for states and communities, including the City of Daytona Beach. Every year, more than $675 billion goes toward hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, housing programs, emergencies and natural disasters from information collected by the census.

Residents are required by law to participate in the 2020 count.

You can make sure you are counted by responding in one of three ways:

  • Online at www.my2020census.gov
  • Call (844) 330-2020
  • Complete and return the paper form

All responses are confidential.

Census takers are visiting homes that haven’t responded to the census. Census takers are hired locally, wear face masks and follow COVID-19 social distancing and other health protocols. They will never ask to enter your home and will not ask for money. Make sure they have an ID badge with their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark and an expiration date. Census workers may also carry a bag with the Census Bureau logo. If you have questions about their identity, call (800) 923-8282 to speak with a Census Bureau representative.

For more information about the census, visit www.DaytonaBeachCounts.com.
