Commissioners meet with City Manager finalists Saturday, March 27

Moving forward in the process of selecting the city’s next manager, commissioners will meet one-on-one Saturday, March 27, with the finalists. There will be a special City Commission meeting at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at City Hall, and as part of the agenda, the City Commission will interview the candidates and then discuss and decide if they want to select one of the finalists to be the next manager.

The finalists are Deric Feacher and Terrence R. Moore. (Terry K. Suggs has withdrawn himself from consideration.)

Last Saturday, the finalists participated in a candidate forum virtually and in-person with the public where finalists had an opportunity to answer questions. The meetings with the public were recorded and are available online for viewing.

The public is encouraged to provide their feedback regarding the finalists. A feedback form can be completed on the city’s website. Once completed, please print and email the form to communications@codb.us.

Beer & Bacon Festival returns to Beach Street Saturday
Head downtown Saturday for the annual Beer & Bacon Festival! Participating Riverfront Shops of Daytona Beach merchants in the historic downtown area will serve up a variety of craft beer tastings from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 27. Advance tickets are $20 per person and are available online through 11:30 p.m. Friday, March 26. Tickets are $25 per person if purchased on the day of the event. 31st Daytona Turkey Run is this weekend
Thousands of classic cars will be on display this weekend during the 31st Daytona Turkey Run at the Daytona International Speedway. Known as one of the largest combined car shows and swap meets in the U.S., this family-friendly event includes food, music as well as homemade crafts and fashion items for sale. Hours during the 3-day event are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 per day Friday and Saturday, and $5 for Sunday. Summer Saturday concerts and fireworks scheduled for Daytona Beach Bandshell

This summer, plan to spend Saturday nights at the Daytona Beach Bandshell for a series of concerts and fireworks.

The 2021 Star Spangled Summer Concert Series is presented by the Boardwalk Merchants and Friends of the Bandshell and will bring the best tribute bands to the area beginning May 29 and continue every Saturday night through Sept. 25. All performances begin at 7:15 p.m. and are followed by a fireworks display.

Celebrating America's birthday and as part of the concert series, there will also be a special fireworks display and concert at the bandshell featuring Alter Eagles, an Eagles tribute band, Sunday, July 4. As part of the celebration of America's birthday, new this year the city will be hosting a July 4 parade to celebrate and honor veterans and their families in our community. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Main Street.

Tickets for the 2021 Star Spangled Summer Concert Series will be available for purchase beginning Thursday, April 1. New this year, attendees are not able to bring their own chairs as pre-arranged seating will be implemented to allow for social distancing. Face coverings are also required.
