Demo of beachside water tanks Two elevated water tanks on the beachside are scheduled for demolition. The obsolete steel tanks were built in the 1950s and 60s and haven’t been used since the early 2000s when the city's drinking water system was upgraded. Large cranes will be used to carefully dismantle each tank, taking them down piece by piece. The tanks are located at 150 Thames Ave. and 126 University Ave., adjacent to Fire Station No. 3.
