Early voting for the 2024 General Election ends Saturday, Nov. 2. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Daytona Beach has two early voting sites:  

  • Cherry Cultural & Educational Center 
    925 George W. Engram Blvd. 
  • Daytona Beach Regional Library 
    105 Jackie Robinson Parkway 

The Supervisor of Elections website provides other early voting locations throughout Volusia County. 

Daytona Beach residents living in Zone 2 can vote for a city commissioner in this year’s election. More information about Daytona Beach’s specific ballot questions is available on the city’s website.

Vietnam Traveling Wall on display for three days in Daytona Beach

A double-sided Vietnam Wall, measuring 89’ x 6’, will be displayed in the Riverfront Esplanade’s Veterans Plaza from Nov. 1-3. Viewing is free to the public from sunrise to sunset. There is also a Cost of Freedom Tribute, a one-of-a-kind memorial honoring fallen soldiers from all major conflicts and wars, from WW1 to Iraq and Afghanistan. There is also a special section remembering 9/11.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month

It's a great time to sharpen your online security skills and ensure your personal information is safe. Whether using strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication or being mindful of phishing attempts, every small step makes a big difference in protecting yourself and your data. The Daytona Beach Police Department offers online resources to help determine if your personal information has been compromised and contact information for reporting fraud and identity theft.

Operation Blue Roof
Operation Blue Roof has been made available, to serve as additional assistance for residents. Applications are being accepted through Nov. 14.

FEMA Assistance
Residents impacted by the storm are encouraged to apply to their insurance provider and FEMA for assistance. 

For more information, call 800-621-FEMA (3362) or visit DisasterAssistance.gov.

Business Assistance
Florida small-business owners needing assistance, including sole proprietors, can go to www.FloridaJobs.org/EBL to apply for the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program. The program provides short-term, zero-interest loans to small businesses that experienced economic injury or physical damage due to Hurricane Milton. Businesses can apply for these funds to bridge the gap while waiting for other funding, such as insurance.

Waste Collection is Underway
In addition to storm debris collections, the city has set up a local drop-off site for Daytona Beach residents to drop off their vegetative debris for FREE. The drop-off site is located at “Lot 7,” on the corner of LPGA Blvd. and N. Clyde Morris Blvd.

Hazardous Waste Day

Got unused paint, pool chemicals, pesticides and fertilizers? Clear out your garage and safely dispose of any unwanted household hazardous items at the city's free collection day! 

Join us Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Daytona Beach residents can drop off items at the Public Works Facility, 950 Bellevue Ave. 

Please note the following items will not be accepted: 

  • fuel 
  • gas cans 
  • tires 
  • gas-powered lawn equipment (like mowers and trimmers) 

Proof of residency is required, and no commercial hazardous waste will be accepted.

Community Resource Fair

There will be a free Community Resource Fair at Allen Chapel AME Church, 580 George W. Engram Boulevard, Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Get FREE credit reports and participate in mini-workshops about home financing, banking, budgeting and estate planning. Attendees can have one-on-one counseling sessions with a HUD Certified Housing Counselor and get pre-approved for a mortgage loan. Learn about new mortgage loan products, down payment assistance programs new affordable housing initiatives, rehab programs and loan and refinance options for homeowners. 

Pre-registration is recommended but walk-ins are welcome. This event is hosted by Mid-Florida Housing Partnership, Inc., HUD, Bethune Cookman University and the City of Daytona Beach.
