The latest edition of the City Manager’s Update newsletter is available and packed with updates, project highlights and important upcoming events. Here’s what’s inside:

The Daytona Beach Police Department launched a new behind-the-scenes documentary series, Academy 06, giving viewers a raw, unfiltered look into the intense training of new police recruits. The first episode is now available, with new episodes released monthly.

Cybersecurity Culture Transformation

The city has significantly strengthened its cyber defenses, reducing phishing vulnerability from 12% to just 2% and achieving 100% compliance with security policies.

Pet Owner Reminders

Animal Services shared important reminders about pet safety, licensing and city ordinances to help keep animals safe.

In the Works

  • Fire Station No. 1: Structural work is progressing, with roof pours complete and framing underway.
  • Beach Access Staircases: Reconstruction has started on 14 staircases and four ramps along the boardwalk.
  • Daytona Beach Pier: Repairs are planned for the section from Breakers Oceanfront Park to Joe’s Crab Shack.
  • Sunnyland Press Box Tower: Blockwork is nearly done; roof and interior framing begin next.

Upcoming Events

  • July 4 – Independence Day Celebration
    Veterans ceremony (9 a.m.), Main Street parade (10 a.m.), concerts and fireworks at the Bandshell, starting 7:15 p.m.
  • City offices will be closed July 4. Garbage collection is not affected.
  • July 10 – Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune’s Birthday Celebration
    6:30 p.m. at the Riverfront Esplanade statue
  • July 12 – Discover Bethune Point Park - Free Community Celebration
    Noon to 3 p.m. at Bethune Point Park, 11 Bellevue Ave. Free hot dogs & water slide fun!
  • July 13 – Midtown Sundayz
    3 to 8 p.m. at Daisy Stocking Park — food, music, games for all ages.
  • July 26 – Sun Soaked Social on Main Street
    2 to 10 p.m. — food trucks, live entertainment, vendors and a kid zone.
