Repairs and upgrades are coming to the Daytona Beach pier! Planned for the section between Joe’s Crab Shack and the former Space Needle ride, a deteriorated concrete vault under the pier will be removed and replaced with a new support structure and decking. Damaged plywood siding between the boardwalk and Joe’s will be removed and replaced with open-style wooden railings to reduce wind load during storms. Also, turtle-friendly lighting will also be added! The project is expected to go out to bid later this year, pending permitting and seasonal conditions
