Celebrate an "Academic All-Stars” parade at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, along Beach Street in downtown Daytona Beach. The parade will honor students, teachers, principals, staff and families whose efforts helped the school district earn an overall “A” from the Florida Department of Education.
Daytona Beach schools played a key role in the district’s achievement. Mainland and Seabreeze high schools both received “A” ratings, with Mainland earning the distinction for the first time in its history. Beachside Elementary also celebrated its first “A” rating since the merger of Ortona and Osceola elementary schools.
The event will bring the community together to celebrate academic excellence and inspire continued success in the classroom.
“These results are more than grades. They are proof of hard work, growth, and the belief that great schools build great communities,” Henry said. “As an educator and a proud graduate of our local schools, I want our students and teachers to know that their achievements matter. This parade is our way of showing them the whole city is cheering them on.”
All public elementary, middle and high schools in Daytona Beach are invited to participate, as well as businesses and community organizations. Schools are encouraged to showcase their spirit with marching bands, floats, cheerleaders and student ambassadors.
