The City of Daytona Beach invites the community to celebrate Independence Day with a full lineup of patriotic festivities, including a veterans ceremony, Main Street parade, oceanfront concerts and spectacular fireworks displays.
Veterans’ Ceremony – 9 a.m., Friday, July 4
A special ceremony honoring veterans and first responders will take place 9 a.m. by the Clock Tower on the Boardwalk, near the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort (100 N. Atlantic Ave.).
Hosted by City Commissioner Stacy Cantu and the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 316, this year’s ceremony will include a tribute to local U.S. Navy veteran Harold Holloway (1947–2023), who served two tours in Vietnam and dedicated his retirement to advocating for fellow veterans. Holloway was actively involved with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 84 in Holly Hill, the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1048 in Port Orange and the VFW Post 8696 in Palm Coast.
Independence Day Parade – 10 a.m., Friday, July 4
Immediately following the ceremony, the annual Independence Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. along Main Street.
Presented by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 316, and the Military Officers Association of America, the parade will feature nearly 30 participants, including local veterans’ organizations, military units and representatives from the Daytona Beach police and fire departments.
The parade route starts at Atlantic Avenue and travels west to the base of the Main Street Bridge. Spectators are encouraged to line Main Street early for the best views. Free public parking is available in surface lots near the Ocean Center.
Traffic Advisory
- Main Street, from Beach Street to Atlantic Avenue, will be closed to vehicles beginning at 10 a.m.
