Residents of all ages are invited to the next installment in the P.E.A.C.E. (Police Engagement and Community Education) forum series, an ongoing effort to strengthen trust, communication and collaboration between the Daytona Beach Police Department and the community it serves.
This third program in the P.E.A.C.E. series, titled “From Encounter to Outcome: How Decisions Shape Your Future,” will feature an engaging panel discussion with Police Chief Jakari Young, Sergeant James Maher, retired judges Dawn Fields and Hubert Grimes, with Dr. Chester Wilson serving as moderator.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for light refreshments and networking before the program begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13.
During the discussion, panelists will share tips for navigating the legal system, explain how police and courts work together, and offer practical advice for positive, respectful interactions with law enforcement. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions and participate in an open dialogue aimed at increasing understanding and mutual respect.
The P.E.A.C.E. initiative is a collaboration between Zone 6 City Commissioner Paula R. Reed, the Daytona Beach Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, the Daytona Beach Area National Pan-Hellenic Council. Additional sponsors of the event are Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick L. Henry, Zone 5 City Commissioner Dannette Henry and NAACP Volusia County – Daytona Beach. The partnership continues to provide valuable opportunities for residents and police to learn from one another, build stronger relationships and promote a safer, more connected community.
