[ARCHIVED] Back To School Traffic Tips

back to school graphic final 488 X 450

Now that school is coming back in session, please keep the following in mind as you’re driving through school zones and bus stops.

- The fine for failing to stop for a school bus is now $200 instead of $100 (first offense).

- If you fail to stop on the same side of the road where kids are boarding or leaving the bus, the fine is now $400 instead of $200 (first offense).

- If you commit either violation again within the next 5 years, your driver’s license could be suspended.

REMEMBER: Traffic in both directions must stop for a stopped school bus if there is no median dividing the travel lanes.

Also… if your hands are on your phone while going through school zones or designated school crossings, that’s a moving violation with a fine of at least $60 plus 3 points on your driver’s license.

Let’s keep the road safe for everyone.
